How we use it and who we share it with

We use your information to:

  • reply to your enquiry
  • consider requests for scholarship or other support
  • send our newsletter, if you’ve subscribed
  • process donations and issue tax-deductible receipts
  • understand how our website is used, so we can improve it

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.

We use trusted service providers to help us run our website and its forms, our email and newsletter, online donations and payments, and website analytics. They handle your information only to provide their service to us.

We may also share information if the law requires us to.

Young people

Many of the people we support are young. If you’re under 18 and contact us about support, we may also ask to speak with a parent, guardian or school staff member before we go further. Information about young people is seen only by the people who need it to help.

Keeping your information safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. Access is limited to board members and contractors who need it, accounts are protected with strong passwords and two-step verification, and our website is backed up regularly.

Some of our service providers store information on servers outside Australia. We choose providers that protect personal information to a high standard.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it. Donation records are kept for seven years, as required for charity financial records. Enquiries are kept only as long as we need them to respond and follow up, or longer if they lead to ongoing support. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.

  • Unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
  • See or correct the information we hold about you by emailing us. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and we’ll respond within 30 days.
  • Ask us to delete your information, unless we’re required to keep it (for example, donation records).

Questions or concerns

If you have a question or a concern about how we’ve handled your information, email enquiries@thedaylesfordfoundation.org.au. We’ll look into it and respond within 30 days.

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
