Maeve always knew she wanted to be a teacher. Family and friends had told her she’d make a great one, too. Mid-way through year 12 she was offered and accepted a Diploma of Teaching Studies at La Trobe University. Maeve also knew she wanted to live on-campus to immerse herself in ‘uni life’ and become fully independent after high school. During her research of scholarships and support options, Maeve discovered The Daylesford Foundation and was able to receive funding to directly contribute to her on-campus rental costs. Maeve says since commencing her course she’s become much more confident in who she is.
To other young people considering their next stage of life she says, “Just go for it. Keep exploring your options, don’t give up.” And to The Daylesford Foundation she says, “Thank you for the help. It allowed me to fully enjoy my first few months settling into a new environment and eased my financial burdens.” After her Diploma Maeve intends to apply the credit to a Bachelor of Teaching or Bachelor of Arts.
