The Grattan Institute says a third of children cannot read at the level expected of them. An important part of this program is to prevent those struggling with literacy from falling further behind. To achieve this, we fund small group learning via MacqLit programs.
Introduction
MacqLit is a reading intervention program for small groups of low-progress readers, developed through science-based research at Macquarie University.
The program
At Daylesford Primary School, this program is run 1:1 with struggling readers with good success over previous years, enabling teachers to assist students struggling with reading to improve rapidly.
So far, The Daylesford Foundation has invested $18,000 into the literacy-based program.
